As economy being taken into account , not all the buses, power plants and substations in the entire networks are equipped with PMU (phase measurement unit)devices.Since the unsynchronized measurements problem will be caused by a failure or loss of the bus PMU,this paper proposes a novel unbalanced fault location method of two-end unsynchronized measurements due to the location error from unsynchronized measurements of both the bus ends of transmission line. In this method, a quadratic equation with unknown unsynchronized time is constructed by analyses of positive and negative sequence equivalent circuit networks through a distributed parameter model.Consequently, the fault results is obtained after solving and determining the pseudo-root. Simulation results show that the proposed method can eliminate the effect of unsynchronized error and be affected little by transition resistance with high accuracy and good robustness in fault location.
