A single-phase-ground fault location method for distribution networks based on distributed traveling wave detection
In order to solve the problem of long-standing single-phase-ground fault exact location in complex tree type distribution network, traveling wave modulus transmission characteristics is studied, and a fault location method combining two traveling waves theories is presented in this paper. Firstly, this method establish multi-terminal location algorithm to find out the fault trunk line and shrink fault location extent. Secondly, a double-terminal fault location algorithm based on the time gap between zero mode and aerial mode traveling is put forward to calculate fault distance. Finally, according to the information of multi-terminal and double-terminal fault location, fault point is determined. The simulation indicates that the location method can carry out accurate fault location with traveling wave location device on several ends of distribution network. It can save investment effectively and have advantages of little date load and simple algorithm implement.
