A progressive and coordinated recovery control strategy is proposed for continuous commutation failures in multi-infeed HVDC system. The index of Multi-Infeed Operating Effective Short Circuit Ratio considering reactive power which represent the strength of receiving AC system and the extent of coupling between different DC systems, is used as a criterion to determine the order of different DC systems. From the perspective of improving the recovery ability of AC/DC interconnected system, the sequential recovery strategy is employed for multi-circuit DC system to decrease the reactive requirement during the recovery process, so that the continuous commutation failure of multi-circuit DC system can be avoided and the system can operate safely and stably. The proposed recovery control strategy is implemented on a simple three-infeed DC system with electromagnetic transient simulation and China Southern Power Grid with electromechanical transient simulation, experiment results demonstrate the proposed approach is effective and feasible.
