This paper primarily presents a novel method using OMAPL138 and FPGA to implement multichannel PWM pulse generator with three-level PWM inverters. The pulse generator receives the PWM pattern parameters and setting parameters from a OMAPL138 processor through a built-in parallel interface, and produces the three-phase PWM drive signals without the OMAPL138 intervention. The hardware architecture, basic principles, implementation method of the pulse generator described in this paper and then verified by simulation and experiment. Three phase PWM generators have the feature of simplifying circuit-design, guaranteeing reliability of system and concurrent triggering of power devices. At present this PWM generator has been successfully applied in a kind of new power electronic device that use the new energy power generation.
