Selection of control parameters for wind power participating in frequency regulation and the analysis of its influence
With the increase of penetration ratio of wind power in power grid, it is required for grid-friendly wind farms to participate in frequency regulation. For the improvement of the frequency quality of the power system, it is necessary to do some research on the controlling parameters of wind power participating in frequency regulation and its impact on the system frequency. Wind power’s participation in frequency regulation is aimed at reducing the frequency change rate at the initial stage of the load mutation and frequency deviation in the steady state. In this paper, we find out the controlling parameters affecting frequency regulation from the perspectives of de-loading control scheme, virtual inertia and primary frequency regulation, and the influence of the parameters on the frequency characteristic are analyzed quantitatively. Finally, a simulation model of a three-terminal system with wind plants is established, and the frequency responses under different controlling parameters are calculated. The simulation results show that the reasonable setting of the controlling parameters brings about strong ability in frequency regulation for wind power and, therefore, the significant improvement in frequency quality of the power system.
