Applications of synchronized phasor measurement technology in distribution systems
With the development of smart grid, the smart distribution system is also constantly upgrading. The synchronized phasor measurement technology not only applies to transmission systems, it will also play an active role in achieving smart distribution systems. This paper introduces the concept of synchronized phasor measurement system in distribution systems based on American FNET system and domestic WAMS Light system. Then a review on diagnostic applications of synchronized phasor measurement technology in distribution systems is presented from following aspects:state estimation, fault location, harmonic estimation and island detection. Meanwhile, a review on control applications of synchronized phasor measurement technology is presented from following aspects: micro-grid coordination, power quality control, control and protection. Finally, some solutions are proposed to deal with problems encountered in the development of synchronized phasor measurement technology.
