In order to improve small signal stability of power system, and suppress the sub-synchronous resonance (SSR), this paper researches the coordinated optimization strategy among multi-channel sub-synchronous supplement damping controllers (SSDC). Multi-channel SEDC, TCSC-SSDC and HVDC-SSDC are designed based on model separation ideas and principles of phase compensation, on the full study basis of characteristics and adaptability of above all SSDC, establish modified IEEE first benchmark model for SSR.SSR modes, which are selected and to be improved, are taken as the target modes and taking the maximized damping ratio under the target mode as the optimization objective and an optimization model is established, the coordinated optimization of damping controller parameters is performed by genetic algorithm, to get controller parameters which can maximize damping modes. The results of eigenvalue analysis and EMTDC simulation prove the parameters in multi-channel damping controllers which use coordinative optimization method is validity for SSR suppression, and improve the small signal stability of power system.
