Novel FIR filter and its application in smart meters
Smart meters are playing more and more critical roles in state grid construction. To ensure the smooth information computation within smart meters, this paper presents a novel filter based on distributed arithmetic and its application in smart meters. This finite impulse response filter is mainly based on look-up table (or memory) structures. Considering in many practical applications, one input sample clock-period is long enough to perform a memory-read operation and an addition, this paper presents a new 2-D systolic structure of filter using distributed arithmetic. In the proposed structure, each processing element reads the content of the memory thrice per cycle period. Analysis indicates through such tri-path technique, each PE has a high time utilization rate. It is shown that the proposed system can be extended further for practical usage because of its high security performance.
