Research on explosion airflow arc-extinguish mechanism based on multiple lightning strike protection
When the multiple lightning strikes continuously discharge to the transmission line, it will cause serious damage to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. The lightning trip accident will cause serious safety hazards and economic losses. Since there is a blank for the protection of multiple lightning strikes, an arc-extinguishing lightning protection gap device for inducing solid-phase airflow by lightning is proposed to achieve full coverage of repeated lightning strikes protection. Firstly, the arc-extinguishing principle is briefly analyzed through the general objective law. Then, a mathematical model is established, the effectiveness of the explosion airflow in the arc extinguishing cylinder is expounded by analysis and calculation. A multiple lightning strike model is proposed, and the simulation software named FLUENT is adopted to simulate the coupling process of the airflow and arc. Finally, the reliability of the device for multiple lightning strike protection is verified by experiments. The experimental results show that the explosion airflow can be maintained for more than 2.64 ms in the rigid space of 0.5L. Arc can be reliably extinguished during the positive pressure of the airflow and no reignition occurs, which explains that the device effectively suppresses the repeated arcing under multiple lightning strikes.
