The continuous access of distributed power supply in distribution network makes fault location more and more difficult, in order to locate fault quickly and accurately and isolate fault branch quickly, this paper presents an improved quantum genetic algorithm for fault location of distribution networks containing distributed power supply. The quantum gate is updated with the dynamic rotation angle strategy, and the chaos optimization method using mapping is adopted to jump out of the local optimal. This method is compared with the algorithm before improvement through simulation to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in this paper. The simulation results show that this method has the advantages of fast convergence speed, short execution time and can locate the fault area effectively. This study provides a reference for the development of fault location methods of distribution network in China.
