Multi-function electric meters are obtaining more and more widespread applications in substations, power plants and other industrial enterprises. For the diversity in communication interfaces and protocols of these devices, bus based multi-function electric meters networking technology is studied in this paper. In laboratory environment, several kinds of multi-function electric meters which are common in power plant and substation auxiliary power system were networked by using bus technology, and a data processing platform which integrated various protocols and interfaces was developed, at last experimental verification was operated on the data collection, communication and other properties of the system. The experimental results show that the system achieves main functions of power plant and substation electrical control system, and has reliable performance. Research in this paper can be promoted in actual engineering applications, and be helpful to improve level of electrical system coordinated control and operation management in substations, power plants and other industrial enterprises.
