In order to analyze the effects of load on arc-suppression method based on grounded-fault transfer device, an equivalent model of the arc-suppression method was proposed. The performance for transferring fault current and the capacity for controlling recovery voltage of the transfer device were studied by using the proposed model, and the laws of the arc suppression method affected by load was given. The results show that it has a great effect by load on the performance for transferring fault current. In the case of large load and small ground resistance, it is possible that the fault current cannot be transferred, or even the fault current can be increased. In addition, the analysis results indicated that the ground fault transfer device has a strong ability to restrain the recovery voltage, and is less affected by the load. The results provide a theoretical basis for improving the control method of the arc suppression device.
