ZigBee wireless communication technology can be used in watt-hour meters and composed the wireless sensor network in a neighborhood, which implements the real-time monitoring, reading and data storage of the watt-hour meters or even water and gas meters, such technology has a wide range of application prospects. This paper designed a classical wireless smart watt-hour meter, which is applied in household single-phase electric measurement. The theoretical power consumptions of such meters are established, the real power consumptions in different operating states are also tested. The investigation provides the theoretical guidance for the future power consumption optimizing of the smart watt-hour meters.
